The research group focuses on how extractive political institution, ethnic and religious discrimination produces conflict and violence in Africa and how different actors can respond to preconditions for conflict resolution and sustainable peace. The conflict and peace resolution research group explore the role of stakeholders after war and insurgency, aiming to contribute to policies that improve the citizens' lives.  We also focus on the challenges of reconciliation after civil wars in Africa.
