Professor Agu Gab Agu, is an Adjunct Professor and Head of Peace and Conflict Resolution research group of the African Development Institute of Research Methodology. He serves as the Director of Studies ESUT School of Professional and Legal Education.
At various times he was the Dean, faculty of law, Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) and Head of Department of International Law and Jurisprudence in the same Faculty. He obtained his LLB from Anambra State University of Science and Technology (ASUTECH), [Now Nnamdi Azikiwe University) MILD (Master of International Law and Diplomacy (ESUT)], LLM Abia State University and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law from Ebonyi State University, Abakiliki.
Before this, Prof. Agu had some Polytechnic education at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu where he obtained the DIMT (Business Administration) and HND in Marketing.
He is an external examiner (Postgraduate programmes) with the faculty of law, Delta State University, Olleh Campus; the National Open University, and on the National University Commission accreditation team to law faculties in Nigeria.
Professor Agu is widely published and has presented well-received papers at the Oxford Round Table at Harris Manchester College in the University of Oxford, Oxford and at the International Workshop on Civil-Military Cooperation at the National Defense College, Abuja. He was also nominated by the office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) as one of the two National Experts/Consultants to the European Union for Capacity Building Training on the observance of International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Laws for relevant Security agencies in Nigeria (March—December 2014).
Professor Agu has also had reasonable industry, government and Labour Leadership experience. He was the Pioneer President of Enugu State Environmental Protection Tribunal, acting Project Manager, Nigeria Mining Corporation, Lead-Zinc-Salt, Project, Abakiliki, and Secretary/Head of Administration, RexOnohBreweries Ltd. He was also Chairman of Enugu Central Development Council and Chairperson. Academic Staff Union of Universities, ESUT branch (ASUU—ESUT)
His research trust is in the areas of International Humanitarian Law, and Peace and Conflict Resolution in which he is widely published. He is at present the Head Conflict and Resolution department of the Institute of African Research and Development Studies, which he is adjunct Professor.
Professor Agu was the 21st ESUT Inaugural Lecturer—“AnaAchoOgunma? Should War have its own Law? Why not”
