Dr Arthur Efeoghene Athanasius Essaghah is an Adjunct Professor and Head, of Environmental Studies research group, African Development Institute of Research Methodology. 

He is a Professor of Urban and Regional Planning with a sound background in academic training, dissertation supervision and collaborative research in the areas of urban planning and design, landscape planning and design, environmental impact assessment (EIA), social impact assessment (SIA) and environmental planning and management since 2009. He had his first degree in Architecture in 1985 in the then Bendel State University (now Ambrose Alli University) Ekpoma before proceeding to the University of Benin prestigious Centre for Urban and Regional Planning Benin City for MSc Degree in Planning and thereafter obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in environmental planning and management with distinction from the Centre for Environmental Management Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) in 2008. Due to his brilliant performances in these academic programmes and in particular in the MSc programme, he was given automatic employment by the University of Benin to teach in the postgraduate course he graduated from.

He rose rapidly in his career due to combination of hard work, brilliant collaborative researches and creative writings to the positions of Senior Lecturer and Professor in 1998 and 2009 respectively in ESUT. He was voted Best Lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2013 and 2014. Between 1998 and 2017 he held different administrative positions as Head of Department (5 different times), Dean Faculty of Environmental Sciences, member of several Senate Committees including University Environment Management Committee, University Inaugural Lecture Committee, University Research Awards and Grants Committee, Committee on the Review of Academic Regulations, University Learned Conference Committee, Ceremonials Committee and University Accreditation Committee amongst other departmental and faculty-wide committees. In addition to his academic duties in ESUT has served as Adjunct Professor to Kogi State University, Anyigba, Rivers State University RSU Nkpolu- Portharcourt and Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu as well as External Examiner to several universities and Assessor for Professorial Positions to other universities in Nigeria. As a multi-disciplinary professional he has actively served at different times as Consultant for projects funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), World Bank, Federal and State governments in Nigeria including a position of Senior Advisor to Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) of Nigeria.

In terms of academic dissertation supervision, he has successfully supervised over 50 (BSc), 36 (MSc/MURP) and 12 (PhD) student dissertations/theses.  In the aspect of creative output, he has collaborated with other researchers to publish six (6) textbooks, several research papers (40nos) and refereed technical reports (45nos). My recent consultancy and on-going research activities are in the areas of urban design and land use economics, ecological restoration and improving the environmental and social performance of projects especially those related to the oil & gas industry, assisted projects by the multi/bi-lateral development and financial institutions and federal and state MDAs in Nigeria and Africa including the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the World Bank (WB). Dr Arthur Essaghah is a Nigerian from Delta State. He is 59 years old, married and blessed with six children.
