Our research agender aims to conduct research on the prevention and management of chronic disease within primary health care. It encompasses research focusing on specific chronic diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, asthma and high blood pressure. We also focus on the prevention and spread of HIV in Africa. It's estimated that 38 million people are infected with HIV globally.

The vast majority of those people – over 25 million – live in Africa. We are seeking to collaborate with local and international research institutes and organisations to build bridges that will enhance limited resources, weak infrastructures, and political inaction in translating research insights into prevention and treatment strategies for diseases in Africa. Our research activities include understanding and intervening to reduce health inequalities.
